Jonathan Rea makes history with ninth straight win

The Northern Irishman became the first winner of the Argentinian round of the competition.

Jonathan Rea made history as the first winner of the Argentinian round of the Superbike World Championship – his ninth consecutive race victory.

Marco Melandri started on pole position for the second time this season but was quickly overtaken by Northern Irishman Rea at the new Circuito San Juan Villicum.

Kawasaki also secured the 2018 manufacturer title as a result.

Aruba.it Racing Ducati rider Melandri took second place, with Rea’s Kawasaki team-mate Toprak Razgatlioglu finishing third.

Local hero Tati Mercado crashed out with 18 laps to go.
