Rea claims World Superbike victory as Sykes crashes out in Assen

Jonathan Rea won the opening race of the weekend in Holland, his fourth win of the season, as Tom Sykes crashed after starting on pole.

Rea enjoyed a 1.662 second margin of victory after 21 windy and competitive laps at Assen.
Sykes, who had come out on top of Superpole on Saturday morning, was in contention for the top spots in the early laps but fell after missing a gear on the approach to the final chicane on lap nine.

Rea wins again as Sykes crashes out in Assen

Rea has already built a healthy championship lead of 31 points over Chaz Davies, and is yet to finish off the podium this season having recorded four wins, two second places and a third place in the seven races so far.
Race two takes place on Sunday at 1pm local time (12pm BST).
