The 2023 Superbike World Championship is set to start this month in Australia.
Ducati’s Alvaro Bautista will be the defending champion after finishing ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK) and Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) last year.

What’s the 2023 Superbike World Championship schedule?

After the season opener, there are 11 more rounds of action, although the venue for the final round has not yet been confirmed.
The schedule is:

  • Round 2: Motul Indonesian Round, Mandalika International Street Circuit, March 3-5
  • Round 3: Pirelli Dutch Round, TT Circuit Assen, April 21-23
  • Round 4: Catalunya Round, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, May 5-7
  • Round 5: Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round, Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, June 2-4
  • Round 6: Prosecco DOC UK Round, Donington Park, June 30-July 2
  • Round 7: Imola Round, Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola, July 14-16
  • Round 8: Czech Round, Autodrom Most, July 28-30
  • Round 9: Pirelli French Round, Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, September 8-10

What’s the format for a Superbike World Championship weekend?

Each race weekend is a three-day event with practice sessions on Friday followed by Superpole and the main races on Saturday and Sunday.
The format is:
Friday
  • 1st free practice
  • 2nd free practice
Saturday
  • 3rd free practice
  • Superpole: sets the starting positions for Race 1 and the Superpole Race (to qualify for the race, riders must record a lap time no longer than 107% of the time recorded by the pole-position rider)
  • Race 1
Sunday
  • Warm-up
  • Superpole Race - 10 laps
  • Race 2 (Top nine from Superpole Race start in that position for Race 2; positions from 10th onwards set from Saturday's Superpole)
