Adam Peaty opened up the LEN Short Course Swimming Championships in style by registering a personal best in the 50m breaststroke in Copenhagen.
The Brit's time of 25.70s was enough to take bronze medal in a frantic race which saw a new European record of 25.62 set by Fabio Scozzoli of Italy, who took gold.
Silver headed the way of Kirill Prigoda of Russia, with Peaty nearly three-tenths of a second clear of the rest of the field in Denmark.
The Rio 2016 100m breaststroke champion was not the only Brit in action, as Emily Large put in an impressive showing to take eighth place in the women's 400 individual medley final.
In a tough field featuring Rio 2016 Olympic Champion Katinka Hosszu, this was far from a disappointing outing for Large, with plenty to build on following this, the 19th Short Course Championships.
As well as Peaty, the men's 50m breaststroke saw Ross Murdoch take to the pool, finishing 24th after the heats.
Jocelyn Ulyett was also in action, in the women's 50m breaststroke, finishing 23rd.
The action from Copenhagen continues on Thursday, with the next medal session coming in the afternoon, beginning with the men's 200m freestyle.
