The 30-year-old has not played competitively since SW19 last year and had to pull out of this year’s Australian Open before it began.
He has since had hip surgery and has said he wants to return in time for the grass court season.
However, his practicing options may be limited as the hard clay courts may prove too tough for him and a BBC report says that Murray could play at two new LTA events.
They are two ATP Challenger Tour events at Glasgow and Loughborough with the former due to take place from April 28 – May 6 and the latter between May 19 – May 27.
The LTA press release said “The tournaments will provide high-level competition on British soil ahead of the highly-anticipated grass court season, including The Queen’s Club Championships, Eastbourne International, and Wimbledon.”
The report from the BBC says that Murray’s team and the LTA had been in talks about these events and points out that there has been no commitment from the organisation about staging these events in future years.
