GAME, SET AND MATCH! – DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-2 RUUD. Djokovic completes an impressive opening Green Group victory by serving it out to 15. Ruud made a fight of it in the opener but in truth the world No.1 looked sharp throughout and remains the man to beat here in Turin.

DJOKOVIC 7-6 5-2 RUUD. Casper avoids the breadstick but Djokovic is surely just moments from the win.
DJOKOVIC 7-6 5-1 RUUD. This match is done. Djokovic backs up the double break with another efficient hold to love. He’s one game away from taking his record in ATP finals round robin openers to 13-1 in his favour. Not bad at all.

BREAK! – DJOKOVIC 7-6 4-1 RUUD. It’s the insurance break. The Serbinator’s precision wears away at its opponent and another error long secures the double break.
DJOKOVIC 7-6 3-1 RUUD. That was rampant and yet Nole barely broke walking pace. He remains firmly on course for an opening win here.
DJOKOVIC 7-6 2-1 RUUD. Casper stops the rot and remains highly competitive, but it’s a long road back despite belatedly getting himself on the board.

DJOKOVIC 7-6 2-0 RUUD. Too good. Djokovic keeps Ruud at arm’s length to consolidate with a hold to 30.

BREAK! – DJOKOVIC 7-6 1-0 RUUD. The momentum is firmly with the five-time champion now. A bewitching lob leaves Ruud shaking his head in disbelief and he follows up by going too big on a forehand on break point and plants it into the net.

TB LATEST. It’s mini breaks galore! Djokovic looks in charge at 2-0 but then wobbles with a wayward forehand allowing Ruud to snare three points in a row in response. The Norwegian can't make it count, however, and hooks one wide off the same wing a moment later and it’s 3-3 at the change of ends.
DJOKOVIC 6-6 RUUD. Brilliant. Ruud sweeps into the net to back up a backhand up the line with a delightful touch at the net. It earns him the chance to battle for the opening set in a tie break.
DJOKOVIC 6-5 RUUD. Routine. Djokovic brushes off his irritation and charges through a quick-fire hold. Can Ruud hang in again to force the tie break?

DJOKOVIC 5-5 RUUD. Where do you start? Ruud unloads that powerhouse forehand to try and reach parity once more but Djoker digs in to force deuce and make life very difficult. From there the Serb produces trademark defence and has a look at two set points. He blows the first with a very un-Nole-like return into the net and screams in dismay. Ruud saves the newt with a delicious forehand pass and then clutch serving somehow gets him out of dodge.
DJOKOVIC 5-4 RUUD. Novak looks so assured on serve right now, he can even afford a complete misfire on his trusty backhand down the line. For many such an error from 40-0 up would crank up the heat, but the Serb knuckles down at 40-30 and pushes some scoreboard pressure the way of his opponent instead.
DJOKOVIC 4-4 RUUD. That’s a fine response from Ruud. The Djokovic Express was gaining traction there but the Norwegian finds some hefty serves to ease him through a much-needed hold to 15. You still fancy Djoker to take this opener though...
DJOKOVIC 4-3 RUUD. Casper needs to offer more resistance on the Novak serve. Since that opening break he’s barely had a look-in and it’s same again here as Djokovic surges through an easy game to nudge the board in his favour for the first time.

BREAK! – DJOKOVIC 3-3 RUUD. Novak makes his move – and levels the match! The Serb looks to neutralise his opponent’s explosive forehand and conjures up a winner off the same flank on his way to clocking up double break point. The pressure proves too much for Ruud as an untimely double fault gifts the world No.1 the break back.
DJOKOVIC 2-3 RUUD. If you blinked you may have missed that! No real danger for Djoker yet again as he stays firmly in touch by easing through for the loss of one point.
