GAME, SET AND MATCH! – NADAL 2-6 6-1 3-6 ALCARAZ
He’s done it! Alcaraz holds his nerve to serve out the match and secure a first ever win over Nadal. He becomes the first teenager to ever beat Nadal on clay. He produces a brilliant drop shot at 30-30 to snare match point and then flashes a forehand up the line to set up a semi-final showdown with Djokovic.

NADAL 2-6 6-1 3-5 ALCARAZ
This time Nadal gets a slice of luck. A backhand slaps the net and tickles over at 40-30 up – and he poses the serve-out question.
NADAL 2-6 6-1 2-5 ALCARAZ
Alcaraz is red-lining again. A quite sumptuous backhand up the line leaves Nadal watching in disbelief as he holds to 15 to move within a game of the last four. The 19-year-old gets a big piece of fortune on the final point when an approach hits the net and bobbles over.
Sorry... (not sorry).
NADAL 2-6 6-1 2-4 ALCARAZ
That’s some game from Nadal. Just when you think he’s fading he brings his A-game to the court. A blistering backhand winner up the line is followed by a forehand right to the corner of Alcaraz’s right flank. It’s an eye-catching way to conclude a love hold and keeps him in touch.
NADAL 2-6 6-1 1-4 ALCARAZ
Another missed chance for Nadal. The injury is not affecting Alcaraz now. He hits back from 15-30 to consolidate and move within sight of victory.

BREAK! – NADAL 2-6 6-1 1-3 ALCARAZ
You could actually see this coming! Alcaraz has been moving better and Nadal didn’t take advantage of early openings in this decider. The five-time champion misses a sitter of a volley at the net and then somehow fails to come out on top in a rally he dominates due to sensational defence. The teenager then bullets a crosscourt backhand winner before Nadal nets a forehand to cough up the break to love.
NADAL 2-6 6-1 1-2 ALCARAZ
It’s spirited stuff from Alcaraz who still believes he can overcome his ankle and Nadal to make the last four. He misses a very make-able pass for 15-30 but then unleashes a stunning forehand winner on the stretch before riding the buzz of that shot through the next couple of points to come through. He seems to be moving much better now.
NADAL 2-6 6-1 1-1 ALCARAZ
Solid work from Rafa. He keeps looping that forehand deep and purposeful and Alcaraz is leaking errors. Two big serves seal a hold to 15 and we remain intriguingly poised in this decider.
NADAL 2-6 6-1 0-1 ALCARAZ
Nadal kicks off with a brutal forehand but Carlos responds with one of his own before a wide ace suggests he might be competitive after all. Nadal blasts long and another wide ace gets the youngster off on the front foot.
Dangerous times for Nadal, who must have thought the injury was going to takes its toll. It doesn't seem to be the case and the 21-time major winner needs to lock in again right now after a spell of such stop-start tennis.

SET! – NADAL 2-6 6-1 ALCARAZ
Nadal is level in a match where he was looking second best for a huge chunk of it before Alcaraz’s injury. He comfortably serves out to love and you still wonder if the 19-year-old will continue unless the pain-killers kick in and he can recapture his mobility.

BREAK! – NADAL 2-6 5-1 ALCARAZ
Should Alcaraz continue? He needs to look at the big picture here. That ankle needs to be right for the French Open. Nadal is finding far more depth on that forehand and with his opponent’s movement more laboured he’s taking advantage. The world No.4 breaks again and will now serve for the set.
NADAL 2-6 4-1 ALCARAZ
Nadal backs up the break with a game to 15. He hits a lovely wrong-footing forehand for 40-15 before a long delay ensues as a spectator falls ill in the crowd. The players eventually return and Nadal quickly seals the point to take charge of the set.
PLAY SUSPENDED FOR THE MOMENT
It appears someone has been taken ill in the crowd. The players have taken a seat. Nadal is 40-15 up on his serve and 3-1 ahead in Set 2.

BREAK! – NADAL 2-6 3-1 ALCARAZ
There’s now heavy-strapping on Alcaraz’s right ankle. He looks hampered too as he is broken to love. A double fault and a series of misses show he’s not quite right out there.
NADAL 2-6 2-1 ALCARAZ
Nadal sizzles a forehand long and there’s a feeling it could be another grind to hold serve. It’s not the case as he out-drop shots his opponent before a big forehand forces an error and has Alcaraz falling in a heap. The 19-year-old looks to be in pain and Rafa goes to check he’s okay. He says he is but the trainer comes on to court to see to him.
