Andy Murray made the Australian Open semi-finals for a sixth time with an impressive four-set demolition of eighth seed David Ferrer.

Murray won 6-3 6-7(7) 6-2 6-2 after a wonderful performance on a superb day for British tennis, following Johanna Konta's earlier progress to the last four of the women's singles.
And as if that weren't enough, Jamie Murray is also in the semi-finals of the men's doubles after he and Bruno Soares won 3-6 6-4 7-6(3) against South Africa's Raven Klaasen and the USA's Rajeev Ram in their quarter-final. It's the first time in the Open era that two brothers are in the semi-finals of the same grand slam tournament.
For Andy Murray, this is far from uncharted territory however: he is in his sixth semi-final in Melbourne, and he has won all but one of his previous five.
The Scottish world number two eased through the opening set, but his timing deserted him in the second as Ferrer squared the match.
Murray broke early in the third set, however, and didn't look back thereafter - despite a delay in play for the roof to close immediately after that break, the moment seemingly helping Murray keep his focus rather than disrupt his rhythm.

Indeed, by the end of the match Murray was playing some of his best tennis of an often-patchy tournament as he continually pulled out winners from all over the court - and he actually admitted that the roof being closed helped him out.
"It was quite windy at the beginning of the match," said the world number two.
"I like playing indoors. I grew up in Scotland, the weather is not quite like it is here. I played all my tennis growing up indoor so I don't mind it."
Murray will face either Gael Monfils or Milos Raonic in the semi-final, with the other semi-final to be contested between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Studio analysis

Greg Rusedski said Andy Murray is looking impressive but he has one area of his game to improve going into the semi-finals.
