Australian Open order of play on Sunday: Federer and Cilic face in first Grand Slam of 2018

Order of play on the main showcourt on the 14th day of the Australian Open with Roger Federer and Marin Cilic meeting in what should be an enthralling men's final.

Men's singles - final

Marin Cilic (CRO) [6] v 2-Roger Federer (SUI) [2]

Roger Federer is looking to maintain his remarkable resurgence as he takes on Marin Cilic in the first Grand Slam of 2018.

Federer is closing in on regaining his number one ranking from Rafael Nadal, and Cilic stands in his way as he attempts to add to his single major win, 2014's US Open.

Cilic has seen an upturn in his fortunes of late, and competed in last year's Wimbledon final.

Nadal retired hurt in his match against Cilic, and the Croatian was ultiately a straight-sets victor over Britain's impressive Kyle Edmund.

For Federer, a victory would represent his 20th Grand Slam victory and start 2018 just as he did in 2017, and would represent his first successful defence of a Grand Slam since 2008.

Former British number one John Lloyd examined how Federer has revived his game in his mid-thirties.

"It’s unbelievable. I defy anyone to look at tapes when he was in his 20s and say he’s not moving as well now,”

"At 36 he’s moving better than then! He’s improved his game. "He’s added things to his game which is so remarkable.

"Today he was just brilliant. His shot-making ability, taking the ball on the rise.

"It was Agassi-like.

“Where he just stood in there and moved his opponent round side to side and took his legs away.”
