Sixth seed Karolina Pliskova breezed into the second round of the 2018 Australian Open with a 6-3 6-4 win over Veronica Cepede Royg.
The former world number one is viewed as a serious contender for her first ever Grand Slam title in Melbourne and did nothing to dispel that notion.
Cepede Royg is the world number 80 and in truth posed few problems for Pliskova on Rod Laver Arena, even allowing for some resistance right at the end.
