Stanislas Wawrinka crashes out in Australian Open second round after Tennys Sandgren victory

Stan Wawrinka suffered a shock second-round defeat to America's Tennys Sandgren on Thursday, failing to win a set against the world number 97.
An inspired Sandgren broke a struggling Wawrinka twice, in the sixth and eighth games of the first set, to go 6-2 up.
And moving to the second set, Sandgren took the upper hand earlier, breaking in the second and fourth games to win the set 6-1 as he dominated the world number eight and former Australian Open champion.
Some started to speculate that an injury Wawrinka came into the tournament with was causing him problems, as he grimaced, losing his first serve of the third set.
The increasingly immobile Wawrinka could not find his way back and Sandgren served out the remainder of the set to take it 6-4.
Sandgren will play Maximilian Marterer in the third round after he completed victory over Fernando Verdasco in five sets.
