SUNDAY'S HIGHLIGHTS

  • 8-Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic) v Amanda Anisimova (U.S.)
  • 15-Ashleigh Barty (Australia) v 30-Maria Sharapova (Russia)
  • Tomas Berdych (Czech Republic) v 2-Rafa Nadal (Spain)
  • 14-Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece) v 3-Roger Federer (Switzerland)

MATCH OF THE DAY

14-Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece) v 3-Roger Federer (Switzerland)
Roger Federer is aiming for a record seventh Australian Open title and a third in a row. The Swiss master hasn't dropped a set yet in Melbourne and has been gliding across the court despite turning 38 this year. However, Dan Evans made him work hard in round two and 14th seed Tsitsipas should be an even sterner test in the night session on Rod Laver. At 20, the Greek star is the youngest player in the world's top 20 and although he has been a little inconsistent in Melbourne, going through in each of his three matches in four sets, he has shown flashes of his undoubted quality. The first meeting of two men at opposite ends of the age spectrum could produce a thriller.

POTENTIAL UPSET OF THE DAY

'You are kidding me!' - Unreal winner from teen sensation Anisimova

Under normal circumstances Kvitova would be a huge favourite in this contest but such was the brilliance of 17-year-old Anisimova in her third-round match, all eyes will be on the opening match on Rod Laver in anticipation of a potential shock. American Anisimova became the first player born in the 2000s to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam when she overcame the hotly-tipped Aryna Sabalenka in round three, amazing tennis fans with her array of shots - and particularly a prodigious backhand. A two-time Wimbledon champion, Kvitova's vast experience should see her safe but any drop in her level and Anisimova could pounce.

BRIT WATCH

As things stand, there are no British players scheduled to play on Day Seven.
