Tennis news - Johanna Konta out after record-breaking late-night encounter against Garbine Muguruza

Johanna Konta and Garbine Muguruza put on a very late-night show at the Australian Open, with a match of high quality ending at 3.12am with a 6-4, 6-7(3), 7-5 victory for the Spaniard.
After the men's match between Alexander Zverev and Jeremy Chardy stretched to five sets, Konta and Muguruza did not begin their clash until half past midnight in Melbourne - the latest-ever start for an Australian Open match.
The former world number one enjoyed the only break of serve in the first set as the Brit made a slow start, but the second set was much more even as Konta stepped up the power in her striking.
The rain began to fall as the second set moved into a tie-break, and the roof on Margaret Court Arena was closed to allow play to continue.
Konta's challenging had been slightly errant, but she made an excellent call to ask for a review on her first set point, leading the Spaniard 6-3. Her shot was actually in, in opposition to the line judge's original decision, and Muguruza had returned into the net, meaning the Brit forced a decider.
The two stayed close in that third set too, but Konta's increased number of unforced errors began to tell, and Muguruza finally broke her serve to take an epic encounter.
