Tennis news - Karolina Pliskova's power-hour overwhelms Garbine Muguruza in last 16

Seventh seed Karolina Pliskova brushed aside Garbine Muguruza in straight sets to set up a quarter-final against either Simona Halep or Serena Williams.

Pliskova won 6-3 6-1 in exactly one hour to reach the last eight for the third year in a row.

Pliskova eases past Muguruza to reach quarters

The Czech is yet to reach the semis in Melbourne, and must overcome Halep or Williams if she wants to reach new heights on her hunt for a first Grand Slam.
