Dan Evans continues comeback to reach quarter-finals in Nottingham
Former British No. 2 Dan Evans continued his comeback from suspension with a straight sets 7-5 7-6 win over Sergiy Stakhovsky to reach the quarter-finals of the Nature Valley Open in Nottingham.
Evans, 28, was banned for a year after he tested positive for cocaine and recently returned to action.
He reached the semi-finals at Surbiton, losing to top seed Jeremy Chardy and he has already risen into the top 550 in the world.
His performances so far at Nottingham should see him move into the top 500 and having reached the quarter-finals he is in with a good chance of receiving a wild card for Wimbledon qualifying.
Having beaten Stakhovsky, Evans will now face Brayden Schnur in the next round with second seed Alex De Minaur still in the other half of the draw.
