Henman, who is retiring after this weekend's World Group play-off at Wimbledon, faces the Croatian number one in the second singles rubber.
Henman has a 1-4 career record against Ljubicic with his last defeat to the big Croatian coming at Dubai in 2005.
British number one Andy Murray opens up against 18-year-old Marin Cilic and will partner up with his brother Jamie for Saturday's doubles.
The Murray and Murray pairing will face Ljubicic and Lovro Zovko in the third rubber.
The 20-year-old Scott faces Ljubicic - playing in his final Davis Cup tie - in Sunday's early match, while Henman will face Cilic - who beat him in the first round of Queen's Club earlier this year - in the fifth and final rubber and his last competitive match.
"It would be a great scenario to go out on Sunday at 2-2 against the man who beat me at Queen's this year - I wouldn't need any extra motivation," said Henman.
"I was very ordinary at Queen's this year but I'm confident I can come back with a different result.
"He's a good player and getting better all of the time but I didn't take my chances that day.
"I could and probably should have won all three sets yet still lost the match and I'm determined the same won't happen again."
Murray, meanwhile, said he is all-too ready to open up the three-day tie against Cilic.
"Marin is a typical Croatian - he's tall, hits the ball hard and serves well so it's up to me to make sure I return well," he said.
The 20-year-old Scot is also eager to send off Henman in style.
"I'm can't wait to get back out on the court and playing in front of a big Wimbledon crowd after not getting the chance earlier in the year," said Murray.
"I've felt in really good shape this week and I've been hitting the ball better than I've for a while.
"The forehand is feeling great and I just want to get on with the matches now.
"It's two or three times better than it was at the US Open and hopefully I can get the right result."
