Andy Murray is targeting victory at the Australian Open in January after his Davis Cup success - and does not feel claiming the French Open at Roland Garros is beyond his skillset.
Murray inspired Great Britain to their first Davis Cup success since 1936 with a 3-1 win over hosts Belgium on clay in Ghent. The world number two won two singles matches and the doubles alongside brother Jamie, but believes his form gives him hope of further success next year.
The Scotsman has lost four times in the final of Australian Open at Melbourne Park, including defeat earlier this year to world number one Novak Djokovic on Rod Laver Arena. He has reached the last four of the French Open three times, losing a five-set match to Djokovic in the semi-finals in May.
Rafael Nadal and Andre Agassi are the only men to have claimed four Grand Slam titles, the Davis Cup and Olympic singles gold. Murray is chasing the Australian Open and French Open to join a very exclusive club.
Djokovic needs the French Open and Olympic gold while Federer will pursue an Olympic gold in Rio de Janeiro having lost to Murray in the final of the 2012 London Games.
Is Andy Murray now Britain's greatest ever sports star?
"Winning the Davis Cup is a huge victory for everyone in the team, but from a personal point of view I don't see it so much like ticking off another big title from a list," said Murray speaking to the BBC.
"There are obviously still two Grand Slams I haven't won, and the Australian Open is a tournament I would love to win because I've been close there so often, reaching the final four times.
"And had I got through the fifth set of my semi-final with Novak Djokovic, I would have had an opportunity to win the French Open, so I'm not that far off on the clay.
"Hopefully I can use this Davis Cup win as a springboard for next year, to take on the attitude I had in every point and maybe get my first Aussie Open in January.
"The Davis Cup has been amazing this year, and I would like to thank all those that have followed us. It's been an amazing journey and we couldn't have done it without you. Now for some rest before I start training for the new season in a week or so…"
