Coach Sebastian Sachs has reflected on his split with Emma Raducanu, admitting that “difficult situations led to difficult conversations”.
Raducanu revealed on Wednesday that she had split with coach Sachs – her latest team overhaul since her stunning run to the US Open trophy in 2021.
The 20-year-old is currently recovering from a triple surgery on both wrists and her ankle.
"It's a pity, of course, because I like Emma and we worked very well together on the court,” Sachs told Eurosport Germany.
“But unfortunately, difficult situations led to difficult conversations and finally we came to this decision,” added Sachs, who is currently working as a Eurosport TV expert.
“I wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her back on the court in top form soon."
Raducanu appointed Sachs in December. Their only Grand Slam together saw Raducanu bow out in the second round of the Australian Open.
It is her fifth coaching change in two years, after also working with Dmitry Tursunov, Torben Beltz, Andrew Richardson and Nigel Sears.
Raducanu has slipped to world No. 107 in the WTA rankings after suffering a myriad of issues over the past two seasons.
She will miss Wimbledon this summer and is a doubt for the US Open, which begins on August 28 in New York.
“I have really enjoyed Seb’s coaching and working with him, it’s unfortunate that circumstances made it unfeasible for both of us to continue right now and we have decided to part ways,” Raducanu posted on social media.
“I wish Seb all the best moving forwards.”
