Ferrer is in top, top form - a dark horse for this claycourt title, for me. He has everything in his locker, although his serve is perhaps not as strong as some of the other players.

FERRER 6-1 6-1 5-3 - One more game for Stakhovsky, although he is still not disguising his drop shots enough. Ferrer will now serve for the match.
FERRER 6-1 6-1 5-2 - Ferrer in mid-court quickly following his serves to claim the game, while Stakhovsky has one success with a volley. He shakes his head in the chair at the shouts of 'Allez' - and perhaps the Mexican wave.
FERRER 6-1 6-1 4-2 - Stakhovsky responds but almost lets Ferrer back in after dominating the first two points.
FERRER 6-1 6-1 4-1 - The fight has gone out of Stakhovsky. Expect Ferrer to win in straight sets. Come on, commentator's curse, do your thing...
FERRER 6-1 6-1 3-1 - BREAK - Stakhovsky left scratching his head as Ferrer somehow passes him with a delicate backhand that drifts down the line - and lands right on the chalk. That opens the game and Ferrer goes on to break while Stakhovsky is not happy with a line call.
FERRER 6-1 6-1 2-1 - Ferrer back ahead in this third set. Stakhovsky looks to attack and comes up short.
So far in this match, Ferrer has converted five of six break chances while Stakhovsky's record is 0/2. Surprisingly on net approaches Ferrer is 67 per cent to his opponent's 64.
FERRER 6-1 6-1 1-1 - Stakhovsky races 40-0 up but throws away all three game points. However he responds positively to force Ferrer into an error from deep then close out the hold despite having to use his second serve.
FERRER 6-1 6-1 1-0 - Stakhovsky gives it a good stab but Ferrer overcomes his challenge to hold. Whenever he gets a couple of points, the seven seed digs in and plays even more aggressively.
Key second-set stats (Ferrer/Stakhovsky): first-serve percentage 83/55; aces 0/1; unforced errors 2/13; winners 5/10; total points won 29/18
FERRER 6-1 6-1 - TRIPLE BREAK AND SET - Again, Ferrer displaying a masterful approach game to take the Stakhovsky serve to deuce then close out the set with a third break within it.
FERRER 6-1 5-1 - Love game to hold from Ferrer. In rallies of three shots or less, Ferrer has won 26 points to his opponents 20. For 4-8 shots the corresponding stats are 12 and four. For more than nine shots, it is eight and four.
FERRER 6-1 4-1 - DOUBLE BREAK - It's just not happening for 25-year-old Stakhovsky. Ferrer takes two break points and converts the second of them to further cement his grip on this match. He is playing excellent tennis.
FERRER 6-1 3-1 - More top-notch strokeplay from both players. Stakhovsky dragged back to 30-30 after sniffing a break chance as his final drop in a 31-shot rally comes back off the netcord. They get to deuce but Ferrer's vicious serve and approach then a weak return nips the challenge in the bud.
FERRER 6-1 2-1 - BREAK - Some extremely long rallies in this game as Stakhovsky finds his range. However he can do nothing as a 24-shot doozy ends with him pinning back Ferrer and coming close - only to see the Spaniard pass him right on the line. That gives the latter advantage, and he wins the game from there.
Ferrer disposed of Julien Benneteau in the last round, while Stakhovsky beat Kei Nishikori. The winners of Steve Darcis versus Gael Monfils will be next up in the last 16.
FERRER 6-1 1-1 - Ferrer not yet in full gear but his serve is not threatened as Stakhovsky hits wide, long and into the net. Ferrer can rally with the best of them so accuracy and patience is needed.
FERRER 6-1 0-1 - Stakhovsky a little wayward still from deep but manages to draw first blood in the second set with a hold. He clinches it with a well-disguised drop from the back of the court.
Key first-set stats (Ferrer/Stakhovsky): First-serve percentage 58/67; unforced errors 4/11; winners 9/6; total points won 28/14
FERRER 6-1 - SET - And the Spaniard closes out the set with a straightforward hold. Stakhovsky must compose himself in set two before the match begins to slip away from him.
FERRER 5-1 - DOUBLE BREAK - The set is turning into a stroll for Ferrer, who has a 2-0 record against the 36-ranked Stakhovsky. One of those wins was at Wimbledon three years ago, the other in the last 16 of this year's Madrid Masters. Stakhovsky too inaccurate when he attacks.
FERRER 4-1 - Clever backhand drop from the intense Ferrer on his way to a love game. When Stakhovsky tries something similar on the final point, Ferrer makes it to the ball and gets the upper hand in the close-in rally to send it long - the lower-ranked player tries a between-the-legs shot at full speed but it flies out.
FERRER 3-1 - BREAK - The first breakthrough from seven seed Ferrer. Ukrainian Stakhovsky not having the same success at the net, volleying out on the final point - the first of two break points held by his opponent.
FERRER 2-1 - The Spaniard again drops a couple of points but retakes the lead with some fine approach play. He is finding good width on his forehand.
FERRER 1-1 - Sticky moment for Stakhovsky as he mis-hits a smash out the back of the court, but he goes on to level matters with a hold.
FERRER 1-0 - Slow start from Ferrer as he nets from close in then from the baseline to go 0-30 down. However he fights back to deuce with some more accurate driving and secures the hold.
Ferrer to serve first.
