Naomi Broady's long wait to play her second-round qualifying match at the Australian Open ended in disappointment as she went out of the tournament.

The British number three was originally scheduled to face Bibiane Schoofs of Holland on Friday afternoon but play was eventually called off for the night after 10pm local time following persistent rain.

Broady and Schoofs were then scheduled fifth on court on Saturday after further rain forced organisers to send the qualifiers indoors.

They finally began the match just before 9pm but it was Schoofs who moved through to Sunday's final round.

Broady recovered an early break in the opening set but lost out in the tie-break and Schoofs dominated the second set to win 7-6 (7/5) 6-2.

Broady's loss means Johanna Konta, Heather Watson and Kyle Edmund are Britain's only representatives in the singles main draws.
