Olympics Rio 2016: Monica Puig stuns Angelique Kerber, claims Puerto Rico’s first ever gold

Monica Puig won Puerto Rico’s first ever Olympic gold medal with a stunning triumph over world No.2 Angelique Kerber.
The unseeded 22-year-old – also her nation’s first woman to win a medal of any colour – completed her fairy tale with a 6-4 4-6 6-1 destruction of her German rival.
Her aggressive style was too much for Kerber, who could only mount resistance from 5-0 behind in the third set.
Puig fended off a flurry of break points in the final game before eventually sealing the most unlikely of victories with her fourth match point.
