Rain causes chaos at Olympic tennis

Heavy rain in Rio prevented play getting under way in the Olympic tennis tournament on Wednesday.

Organisers have yet to call off the action for the day, but with rain still falling - and refunds promised to fans - it seems that all action might be postponed.

Johanna Konta was set to take on Germany's Angelique Kerber in the quarter-final of the women's singles event.

In their only previous meeting so far, world no.2 Kerber knocked Konta out of the Australian Open this year in the semi-finals.

Konta made it to the quarter-finals after an epic three hour and seven minute slog against Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia yesterday.

Konta was also scheduled to play again later on Wednesday in the mixed doubles with Jamie Murray against the United States' Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock.

Andy Murray, who breezed through to the third round in the men's singles event yesterday, is set to meet Italy's Fabio Fognini.
