Andy Murray and Heather Watson were knocked out of the mixed doubles quarter-finals in Rio by India’s Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna.

Murray had returned to the court soon after his three-set defeat of Steve Johnson in the singles but could not stop the Indian pair from claiming the first set 6-4.

The second set went the same way as the first and means the British No 1 will turn his attention to his semi-final against Kei Nishikori on Saturday.
