Alexander Zverev said his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas was “absolutely pathetic on all levels” and refused to give any credit to his teenage opponent as the exciting Greek talent made the Toronto Masters semi-finals.

After knocking out Dominic Thiem and then Novak Djokovic, 19-year-old Tsitsipas took another big scalp, beating reigning champion Zverev 3-6 7-6 6-4.
In doing so, Tsitsipas became the youngest player to beat three top-10 players in the same tournament since a certain Rafa Nadal back in 2006 – and his performances have been the talk of tennis.
But after losing from a set and 5-2 up, Zverev wasn’t impressed with the standard from either player.
“I don’t think he played that well. I think the match was absolutely pathetic on all levels,” Zverev said.
“I’m very honest with you guys (the press). Today was an absolute pathetic match I don’t even think he played well."
