GAME, SET AND MATCH! - DJOKOVIC 6-0 6-1 6-2 CILIC. An outrageous backhand smash is the point of the game as Nole romps into the final with an 85-minute masterclass at the expense of the reigning champion. It was never a contest and Djokovic will now be well rested ahead of the final against Stan Wawrinka or Roger Federer.
BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 6-0 6-1 5-2 CILIC. It's a break to love and Djokovic will now serve for the match. Cilic mumbles away to himself in Croatian and wears the expression of a man who simply has no answer when it comes to Novak Djokovic. He doesn't know where to begin when it comes to doing damage on his own serve, let alone causing regualr concerns for Nole on his.
DJOKOVIC 6-0 6-1 4-2 CILIC. Novak consolidates with a cracking backhand winner down the line after initially gifting his opponent the opening point with a sloppy forehand wide of the right tramlines. Another Grand Slam final edges ever nearer.
BREAK!- DJOKOVIC 6-0 6-1 3-2 CILIC. Chila merely angering the beast with that previous break. Djoker regains his advantage immediately, thumping a forehand winner into the emptiness of the right flank to break to 15.
BREAK!- DJOKOVIC 6-0 6-1 2-2 CILIC. Lift off!? The champion finally shows some of the class that helped him secure glory here last year. Djoker gives him the thumbs up as an exquisite stun volley proves too good on break point after the top seed flittered away a 40-15 lead.
DJOKOVIC 6-0 6-1 2-1 CILIC. Respite. The crowd give Cilic a big cheer but even that is a bit half-hearted as no-one is expecting this to lead to a turnaround of any sort. It's all about how respectable Cilic can make this now. This is probably his best service game of the match as he rampages into a 40-0 lead, fires down a double fault but recovers well to sweep a forehand winner into the right-hand corner he is facing.
DJOKOVIC 6-0 6-1 2-0 CILIC. It's a love hold but the game does end on a high as both players partake in a bit of cat and mouse at the net before Djoker's lob proves too good for Chila to return.
BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 6-0 6-1 1-0 CILIC. You think it can't get any worse - and then it does for Marin Cilic. he just can't get any breathing space on serve and at 30-30 blows another overcooked shot beyond the baseline. He's almost expecting himself to miss and does it again seconds later, allowing Nole to pile on the agony.
Tonight's semi finals were hyped up for having four GS champions involved... Cilic not playing anywhere near a player worthy of that billing. What can he do to make this more respectable? Hard to see any way back at this point.
SET! - DJOKOVIC 6-0 6-1 CILIC. This is all-but over. Djokovic serves out for a two-set lead, fighting back from the nuisance of 15-30 deficit to move within sight of a straight sets success and a longer rest period ahead of the final.
BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 6-0 5-1 CILIC. This is a real tragedy for Marin. The defending champions is going down with a whimper here. At 30-15 the Serbinator treats a 106mph second serve with disdain, lashing the crosscourt return winner beyond his dispirited opponent. Djoker follows up with a real miss-hit on the return that somehow clips the tramline of Cilic's left flank. Cilic nets a forehand to offer up another break opening before gifting it Djoker with a double fault.
DJOKOVIC 6-0 4-1 CILIC. Nole consolidates to 15. It's a real recipe for disaster for the ninth seed as he continues to get nowhere near on Djokovic's serve while going through some seriously testing situations on his own.
BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 6-0 3-1 CILIC. Nothing is going right for Marin. A net cord at 15-15 puts him off his stride and he slices wide of Djoker's left flank. It puts him under more pressure and after a lengthy rally the Croatian fizzes long to offer up another break point at 30-40. Djokovic gets a solid connection on his next return and doesn't have to do much more as Cilic goes for broke, wildly drilling long of the baseline once again.
DJOKOVIC 6-0 2-1 CILIC. Marin blinks a couple of times, has a few shots and then prepares to serve again! Nole romps to another perfect hold and looks unstoppable at the moment.
DJOKOVIC 6-0 1-1 CILIC. Finally! Chila with a huge sigh of relief as he gets on the board - but he's made to work ever so hard for it. The champion fights off two break points before finally earning his first game point of the contest. Djokovic continues to press but fires just wide of the right flank he is facing to bring his winning sequence to a halt.
DJOKOVIC 6-0 1-0 CILIC. A different set but the same old story for Cilic as Djoker motors to a love hold. The Serb can sense his opponent's belief is not there and he's taking giant strides towards ensuring he doesn't give Chila a glimmer of hope anytime soon.
SET! - DJOKOVIC 6-0 CILIC. Too many unforced errors and a pumped up Nole = big, big trouble for Marin. It's another insipid opening as he finds himself on the backfoot on serve once more. Djoker makes him squirm by racking up set point number one, but it inspires the best moment of the set from the Croatian as his delicate drop shot proves too good for Djokovic to chase down. Like a dog with a bone, the Serbinator won't let it go though and claims another two set points, sealing the bagel on the third with a thumping forehand that Cilic can only block long.
DJOKOVIC 5-0 CILIC. The first set is coming to a rapid conclusion. Djokovic is in buoyant mood this evening, crushing the Croatian's spirit time after time. Chila hasn't had a sniff on his return games and now needs to hold serve to avoid the embarrassment of the bagel.
BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 4-0 CILIC. A disaster for the reigning champion. Djoker roars out of the traps with a backhand bullet down the line and a sizzling return to feet that Cilic can't react to. The Croatian serves his way back into it but Djoker guesses right on an attempted pass and whistles another winner across court before Cilic capitulates with a double fault.
DJOKOVIC 3-0 CILIC. The Serbinator wastes little time consolidating the break with a routine hold to 15. Not the start Cilic would have wanted. Psychologically he won't be able help wondering if it is already the same old story in his battles with the Serbian.
BREAK! - DJOKOVIC 2-0 CILIC. Brilliant start for the world number one! Novak goes on the attack and racks up triple break point, thanks in no small part to some woeful net play by Cilic and a brilliant rasping low forehand. The Big Croatian saves two but eventually goes for a winner down the line that flies just long. Nole playing like a man who knows how to beat his opponent.
DJOKOVIC 1-0 CILIC. Nole wraps up the opening service game with a wide ace after giving Cilic a couple of sighters that the Croatian failed to exploit. An ill-timed scoop beyond the baseline is as bad as it gets for the top seed as he motors to a hold to 15.
The warm up is over. Djokovic will serve first.
Djokovic confident he can make it 14 victories out of 14 despite Chila's winning run at Flushing Meadows. The Serbinator said: "He won his first Grand Slam title last year in New York. He hasn't lost a match in 12-13 matches in a row (here), so I'm sure that he feels confident. He's had a couple of five-setters already in this tournament. He has a big serve. I think around 30 aces he had (in the quarter-finals), so the serve gets him out of trouble. I know him very well. I have played with him many, many times. We are great friends. A great guy. I know what to do and I'm hoping I can execute the game plan and play my best."
Cilic on his rather disappointing record against Djoker: "It's definitely the toughest matchup. I haven't beaten him ever in my career. I had close matches the last few years, but I haven't found the right formula to be able to win a match."
This is the pair's 14th meeting with Djokovic boasting a 100 per cent record so far!
