GAME, SET AND MATCH! - FEDERER 6-3 6-3 6-1 GASQUET. Outstanding from Federer. The Swiss routs Gasquet in less than one and a half hours to book a mouthwatering meeting with Stan Wawrinka in the last four. Fed-EX crushed the Frenchman with a barrage of majestic winners and sensational serving. Fittingly he clinched it with a crisp, wide serve that Gasquet couldn't return. On this form he'll take some stopping in his quest for a sixth US Open crown.

-

BREAK! - FEDERER 6-3 6-3 5-1 GASQUET. Roger deflates Gasquet and leaves the Frenchman wondering where it all went wrong with a break to 30. He'll now serve for the match.

-

FEDERER 6-3 6-3 4-1 GASQUET. A hold to love. It's been a masterclass in serving from the Swiss as he cruises towards a last-four showdown with Stan Wawrinka.

-

FEDERER 6-3 6-3 3-1 GASQUET. Respite for Richard. That sublime backhand finally finds the lines and sees him get on the board to 15.

-
-

FEDERER 6-3 6-3 3-0 GASQUET. Rampant. Federer consolidates the break and looks well on course to clinch this match in the next 20 minutes or so.

-

BREAK! - FEDERER 6-3 6-3 2-0 GASQUET. The Swiss must have heard Stan the Man Wawrinka has wrapped up his quarter final on Luis Amrstrong. He doesn't want his compatriot getting more rest time in! The winners are simply flying by and it's too much for Gasquet. On this form that 18th GS title could yet become a reality for Fed-Ex.

-

SET! - FEDERER 6-3 6-3 GASQUET. Fed holds before cranking up the heat on the Gasquet serve. The Frenchman has fought manfully but this time the pressure gets to him and he double faults to hand Fed-Ex the two-set lead.

-

FEDERER 6-3 4-3 GASQUET. More dogged determination from Gasquet. The world number two has a couple of chances for the double break but can't force it through. Gasquet just about staying alive but you sense it's just delaying the inevitable.

FEDERER 6-3 4-2 GASQUET. Disappointment for Richard. He finally gets a foothold in a game on Fed-Ex's serve at 0-30 but sees the Swiss respond in style. A wayward forehand gives the 12th seed another glimmer for deuce, but it is not to be as Federer keeps his nerve to maintain his advantage.

-

FEDERER 6-3 3-2 GASQUET. The 12th seed clings on. Federer is irrepressible right now but the Frenchman needs to believe there will be a dip. Not many in the crowd do, but Gasquet NEEDS to think he has a chance...

-

FEDERER 6-3 3-1 GASQUET. This match is almost passing Gasquet by. Federer is so much better than the Frenchman right now, it's hard to see this being anything but a routine straight sets triumph.

BREAK!- FEDERER 6-3 2-1 GASQUET. An early break for the rampant second seed who lashes a stonking crosscourt forehand winner to clinch the game. It's a real uphill task for Gasquet from here.

-

FEDERER 6-3 1-1 GASQUET. Richard gives himself a lift by holding but once more finds the Fed-Ex serve almost impregnable as he the Swiss clinches another love game.

-

SET! - FEDERER 6-3 GASQUET. A sweeping forehand finds the back of an empty court and secures the set after Gasquet had been pulled wide at 40-30. Just the eight aces for the Fed who has looked like a man keen to beat both Gasquet and a potential rain delay!

-

FEDERER 5-3 GASQUET. Some big chances go to waste for Federer who will now look to shrug those off and serve out the opener. At triple break point the second break looks inevitable, but credit to Gasquet who rallies to make deuce. The pair exchange blows with Federer again missing some chances to pass winners, allowing the Frenchman to wriggle off the hook and take a hard-fought game.

-

FEDERER 5-2 GASQUET. First glimmer of hope for Richard as he makes Federer fight hard before the Swiss ups the ante to take the game to 30 and consolidate. He's one game away from an impressive opening set success.

-

BREAK! - FEDERER 4-2 GASQUET. Quite magnificent net play from the Swiss. A second athletic angled volley on the bounce denies Gasquet's shot down the line and it's a break to 30 after he had initially wasted the first of two break opportunities with a timid backhand return off a second serve.

-

FEDERER 3-2 GASQUET. The pair exchange early blows before Fed moves in for the kill at the net - only to be passed down the line by Richard's smoking backhand. We are already seeing some nice exchanges and the Frenchman shows good defence to ward off Federer's forehand attacks.

FEDERER 2-2 GASQUET. The pair exchange early blows before Fed moves in for the kill at the net - only to be passed down the line by Richard's smoking backhand. We are already seeing some nice exchanges and the Frenchman shows good defence to ward off Federer's forehand attacks to seal the game.

-

FEDERER 2-1 GASQUET. The Swiss is looking super sharp. Another effortless service game sees him drop just the one point while clocking up a third ace of the contest to boot.

-

FEDERER 1-1 GASQUET. Richard benefits from a couple of loose points from Fed-Ex to roar into a 40-0 lead. The Swiss hits back to make it a bit more interesting before the 12th seed conjures up the game-clinching point to get on the board to 30.

-

FEDERER 1-0 GASQUET. Accomplished maiden service game for Federer as he cruises to a love hold.
