It wasn't easy and at times it looked like he was really struggled but Novak Djokovic is through to the second round of the US Open.
Going into the tournament the pressure was really on Djokovic with fitness question marks plaguing him as well as his early exit at Wimbledon against Sam Querry.
Andy Murray, who went on to win Wimbledon, can overtake Djokovic as the world No.1 if he wins this tournament but the Serb sent out a clear message that he won't give up his title without a face.
Janowicz more than played his part in this strange game with some powerful hitting that left Djokovic struggling to stay on his feet at times.
The Serb looked in clear discomfort throughout the game and his serve was remarkably low, and in the end it was no surprise when his opponent took the second set.

However Janowicz's rustiness showed at that moment when he could have perhaps capitalised, and instead allowed Djokovic back into the match and once the Serb took the third set the match looked over.
There was an ominous aura in the way Djokovic finished the game and if he can fix his evident fitness issues he will be a real threat for Murray.
