RADUCANU REACTS: “It feels absolutely amazing to play in front of all of you (the Arthur Ashe crowd). Shelby is a great opponent, she’s done so well here and had a great week, so I knew it would be a tough match. I’m so happy to come through and overcome the nerves at the begging.”
On meeting Olympic champion, Bencic in the last eight, she added: “Belinda is a great player in great form and I'm going to have to bring it on Wednesday. If I'm honest, I’m not thinking of tennis right now. I will leave it until tomorrow."
DID YOU KNOW? Raducanu is the youngest Brit to reach a US Open quarter-final in 62 years, since Christine Truman made the final in 1959.

GAME, SET AND MATCH! – RADUCANU 6-2 6-1 ROGERS. All aboard the Raducanu express! The 18-year-old’s incredible run at the 2021 US Open continues. She overcomes a nervy start to completely overwhelm her American opponent in just one hour and five minutes.
Rogers gave it one last push with a sizzling backhand up the line to snare two break points. Emma responded brilliantly with a two-handed block volley at the net and a couple of forehands. The Brit then served it out on her fourth match point after fending off a third break opportunity. She will now face Olympic champion and No.11 seed Belinda Bencic in the last eight.

RADUCANU 6-2 5-1 ROGERS. Emma pushes a return long and Shelby is finally on the board. The rot stops at 11 games but now it’s down to the Brit to try and serve out the match.
RADUCANU 6-2 5-0 ROGERS. Shelby earns encouragement from the home crowd. It’s been painful for them to watch. She finally wins another point – but it stops at one. Emma ruthlessly serves out the game to 15 and is one away from the quarter finals on debut in the main draw at the US Open.

BREAK! – RADUCANU 6-2 4-0 ROGERS. The unforced errors are leaking like a sprinkler off Rogers’ racket. She’s up to 26 and compounds her misery with a double fault to end a break to love. It’s 10 in a row for Emma.
RADUCANU 6-2 3-0 ROGERS. She’s playing the big points the better of the two players pretty much all of the time. The teenager storms back from 0-30 once again. The onslaught gallops along and now stands at nine games...

BREAK! – RADUCANU 6-2 2-0 ROGERS. It’s gone badly pear-shaped for Rogers. She’s just lost her game-plan in the midst of this Brit blitz. A very make-able mid-court ball sits nicely for her forehand but she slaps it tamely into the net to cough up two break points. She then goes for a very difficult backhand down the line on the stretch and blasts it wide. Emma breaks and has now taken eight games on the spin.
RADUCANU 6-2 1-0 ROGERS. The world No.150 bellows out another ‘Come on!’ as she denies Rogers a break opportunity. The American goes big on a return but Raducanu gets there and finds a lovely angle to her defensive shot that leaves Rogers too much to do.

SET! – RADUCANU 6-2 ROGERS. Boom! Raducanu steps forward and cannons an absolute screamer of a forehand return to take the opening set on her second opportunity. The match started in Game 3 for Emma as the settled and reeled off six in a row! Rogers has struggled to balance power with precision and is already on 18 unforced errors to just nine winners.

RADUCANU 5-2 ROGERS. The charge continues. Rogers tries to turn the tide with a couple of sharp returns but Emma hits back from 0-30 with a pair of aces and a crisp crosscourt forehand winner. She’s one game from taking the first set. Ultra impressive from the teenager.

BREAK! – RADUCANU 4-2 ROGERS. Make that four on the spin! Raducanu keeps soaking up the power and it’s forcing Shelby to go big – and miss. The American saves two of the three break points she coughs up but a 15th unforced error proves her undoing.
RADUCANU 3-2 ROGERS. From two down, to 3-2 up! It’s three in a row for the 18-year-old as she shows the greater rally tolerance to ease through a hold to 15.

BREAK! – RADUCANU 2-2 ROGERS. She’s settled now! Raducanu hunches down and screams in delight as Rogers fizzes long on break back point. The Brit is starting to relax and is showing signs of getting on top in the rallies. That was missing early on with a series of nervy errors. This will do her the world of good as she warms to playing on this great stage.
