Novak Djokovic has the potential to win as many as five more major tournaments, Eurosport pundit John McEnroe has said ahead of the US Open, which gets underway on Monday at Flushing Meadows.

Speaking to Eurosport four-times US Open champion McEnroe said: "To me he’s [Djokovic] got this look in his eyes and that fire in the belly. If he’s got that I believe he’s going to win more majors."
After winning his fourth Wimbledon title in July - his first Grand Slam title in over two years - McEnroe said the former world No.1 looked like he was on his way back to previous form.
He said: "I started to see that at Wimbledon when he played Edmund in the third round. But to me he’s back to being where he was before.
"He’s one of the greatest players to have ever lived so of course he can win this." he said, adding "We’ll see what happens but right now the way he’s going, he obviously has a chance to go on and win a second major, and then three, four or five more."
Asked if the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year was set to be the most exciting, with Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer as well as one-time US Open champ Andy Murray back in action alongside Djokovic, McEnroe said it would be a great end to the year.
He said: "It’s an exciting way to end the season and to see who ends up at the top of the rankings. Novak has a great chance, now Rafa, if he had won that match, one of the best matches I saw at Wimbledon."
In terms of any potential upsets by younger players, McEnroe backed Alexander Zverev as the main threat, but added: "At the moment it would be hard to see anyone out of that top three winning it."
The US Open first round begins on Monday August 27.
