FEDERER 7-6, 7-6, 5-4 BERDYCH: GAME, SET, MATCH! Federer rifles a forehand past the net rushing Berdych before the Czech’s attempted drop shot falls back on his side of the net. A forehand winner brings three match points and the crowd gasps as he hits long on the first. But it’s delaying the inevitable as Berdych nets and Federer has done it again!

FEDERER 7-6, 7-6, 4-3 BERDYCH: BREAK! Berdych is in trouble at 0-30 but Federer again hooks a makeable forehand wide. It matters not as winning net gambit earns Federer another break point and a fierce return gets the job done. Surely game over now.
-
FEDERER 7-6, 7-6, 3-3 BERDYCH: BIG HOLD! Federer is suddenly looking disgruntled, perhaps still thinking about the break point that got away. He loses six of the last seven points to concede two break points but saves with successive aces. Another unreturnable serve and an ace later and Federer holds as only he can do!
-
FEDERER 7-6, 7-6, 2-3 BERDYCH: Berdych is fighting tooth and nail on every point just to stay in this match. Sadly for him, Federer is just a notch above and forces another break point but is furious at squandering the chance with a forehand into the net and Berdych is able to hold.

FEDERER 7-6, 7-6, 2-2 BERDYCH: Federer opens proceedings with an ace out wide and follows with another. He has Berdych on a piece of string and a forehand winner wraps up another love hold.
-
FEDERER 7-6, 7-6, 1-2 BERDYCH: Another sublime Federer return puts the pressure on Berdych at the start of the game but the Swiss then overhits a backhand. The Czech looks a little leggy in hitting long himself but wraps up a gutsy hold with a smart angled volley.
-
FEDERER 7-6, 7-6, 1-1 BERDYCH: Federer is in trouble at 0-30 but digs out an important hold at the start of the set after Berdych misses his chance on a second serve at 30-30.
-
FEDERER 7-6, 7-6, 0-1 BERDYCH: Tomas Berdych is 0/37 when two sets down in slams but is still fighting every step of the way. Federer is visibly annoyed at a mistimed backhand that catches the very tip of his racket frame and Berdych wraps up a love hold.

FEDERER 7-6, 7-6 BERDYCH: SET! A first shout of ‘come on!’ from Federer, clearly feeling the importance of an early lead in the breaker. A Berdych serve catches the outside edge of the line but Federer simply lays into a forehand return that is an outright winner to claim the mini break and unleashes another into the same corner to back it up. Berdych is doing nothing wrong but this is Federer at his best, even with the Czech narrowing the angle, another perfect forehand zooms past him and yet another into the opposite corner a seemingly unassailable 5-1 lead. A double fault gives the Czech hope at 5-3 but he then misses a big opportunity, hitting his pass straight at Federer at the net. another great return and Federer appears on his way to the final.

FEDERER 7-6, 6-6 BERDYCH: TIE BREAK! Huge serving and great court awareness from Berdych, who is still full of self belief. A quick hold and we’re into a second tie break, the Czech with his tail up.
-
FEDERER 7-6, 6-5 BERDYCH: Federer has been playing well, so Berdych must be playing close to the top of his game. He has been talking to himself and closing his eyes with focus during the change of ends but he must do it all again as the Swiss master races to yet another love hold.
-
FEDERER 7-6, 5-5 BERDYCH: A bad error from Berdych gives Federer an opportunity at 15-30 but a huge ace up the tee and volleyed winner saves the day. An ace puts the pressure back on Federer.
