Novak Djokovic holds overnight lead against Rafael Nadal after marathon day of tennis
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will return to Centre Court on women's singles final day after a marathon day of tennis in SW19.
The 12-times Grand Slam winner Djokovic leads Nadal 6-4 3-6 7-6(9), with their match to resume at 1pm on Saturday.
The pair took to court gone 8pm after Kevin Anderson beat John Isner 7-6 6-7 6-7 6-4 26-24 in six hours and 35 minutes in the first semi-final, the longest last-four match in the tournament's history.
Djokovic won a first set marked by sumptuous tennis, but Nadal hit back in the second to level matters.
The third set was a more fraught affair that was decided by a tie-break. Both players had multiple break opportunities, but 12th seed Djokovic sealed the set after another exacting rally to take a one-set advantage into Saturday.
