GAME, SET AND MATCH! – FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 6-4 NORRIE. The eight-time champion prevails against the British number two. Cam Norrie made a real fight of it in the end but Federer found a way after being pushed hard to claim victory in four sets after two hours and 34 minutes. The Swiss served it out from 15-30 down and will now meet Italian No.23 seed, Lorenzo Sonego in the last 16.

BREAK! – FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 5-4 NORRIE. An opportunistic chip and charge pays off for Roger as he smashes away an overhead to clock up two break points. Norrie saves one with an ace and then causes Federer to slip as he chases in vain for a deep forehand. The Swiss presses with a third opportunity and this time he solves the puzzle with a brutal forehand that does all of the damage. It's a break and Fed will now serve for the match.
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 4-4 NORRIE. Federer claws back a brilliant return with a flick of the forehand wand to conjure up a winner at 15-30. A big serve follows and the Swiss edges his way out of danger to level
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 3-4 NORRIE. That’s a beast of a hold from Cam. Federer has chances at 30-40 and from deuce but he’s finding this more and more awkward as it goes on. Norrie even shrugs off another double fault as he gets the crowd roaring with approval with a spirited hold.

BREAK! – FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 3-3 NORRIE. That’s a huge surprise. Just when you thought Federer had regained control, he is completely undone. Norrie keeps nipping away at him like a dog with a bone and he’s showing signs of getting tired of it. The Brit makes deuce and conjures up two fabulous shots off both flanks to break straight back.

BREAK! – FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 3-2 NORRIE. The Maestro takes control! There were signs in that previous game that Fed had got his Mojo going again, but he is helped along here. A double fault sees the Swiss’ eyes light up and a pair of low, short slices hurry Norrie into a couple of errors into the net and the Brit is broken to love.
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 2-2 NORRIE. Federer finds an extra gear – and boy did he need to. He brushes off the nerves and produces some trademark, imperious grasscourt tennis to breeze through a hold to 15.
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 1-2 NORRIE. Federer looks to apply some pressure with a sumptuous return winner up the line to make deuce. The Swiss plays a waiting game in a 23-shot rally but he’s the one who blinks first with a backhand into the net and the chance of earning a break point goes begging. Norrie keeps him at arm’s length and nails an ace to keep his nose in front.
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 1-1 NORRIE. Close…. but not close enough for Norrie. He misses by a whisker for what would have been 0-30 and then sees Federer loop an awkward drive volley just in to avoid a break point. The Swiss barks out a ‘Come on!’ as he sneaks the hold, knowing full well he had a nice rub of the green there.
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 0-1 NORRIE. There’s real momentum now. It took a long time for Norrie to get his teeth into this but he’s feeding off that energy from the crowd and Federer looks a tad concerned. The Brit kicks off Set 4 with a hold to 15 and again nudges that board in his favour.

SET! – FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-7 NORRIE. Wow! Federer blazes a backhand off court and then misses a forehand up the line by a whisker. It leaves him facing three set points. The Maestro completely loses his concentration and drags a horrible forehand well wide. Norrie breaks to love and takes us into a fourth set!

FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-6 NORRIE. That is some game from Norrie. He produces brave tennis after it looked like being curtains. The Brit blazes a routine forehand long to trail 15-30 and is soon facing two break points as Federer follows up a low slice with an arrow of a backhand. The Swiss misses a crosscourt backhand by a whisker and then lobs long. Norrie finds clutch serving from there and is now guaranteed the minimum of a tie break. Cue a roar of anticipation from the Centre Court. For once, they actually want Federer to come unstuck.
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 5-5 NORRIE. The crowd again look to engage Norrie in their hunger for a fourth set, but Federer shuts them out and slams the door on Cam’s hopes on this occasion.
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 4-5 NORRIE. That is supreme serving. Norrie recovers from 0-15 to hammer down some excellent deliveries and apply some rare pressure to Federer. The 20-time Grand Slam champion will now serve to stay in Set 3.
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 4-4 NORRIE. There are plenty of shouts of ‘Come on, Cam!’ The spectators evidently want to see more of this match. Federer allows him back in from 40-0 but the Swiss avoids deuce when the Brit skews a horrible return off a second serve way wide of the tramlines.
FEDERER 6-4 6-4 3-4 NORRIE. It’s not quite been a case of lift off for Norrie here. The crowd seem keen to get behind him but he’s not really showing them how pumped up he is – until now, maybe…. They respond to a convincing hold and his clenched fist shows them he still feels he can make a match of this. It’s getting close to now or never time though.
