-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 9-11 – Match point to Paszek and she finally takes the match as the Italian slices wide. That last set lasted over two hours.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 9-9 – BREAK! The Italian now breaks and has a chance to serve out for the set, but it’s a miserable attempt as she doesn’t even get a point on the board.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 8-8 – Schiavone is throwing it away. She goes two break points down, but saves both. A lovely backhand pass from Paszek sets up another, but again brave, aggressive hitting from Schiavone saves the day. Another chance and again the chance goes begging. Schiavone finally gets the hold.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 8-7 – BREAK! This match is truly going all the way. In fact it’s already reached all the way and going beyond that, but as I type Schiavone grabs the crucial break in the fifteenth game of the set.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 3-4 – BREAK! Paszek bravely saves a series of break back points, but Schiavone’s like a dog with a bone and she won’t give in and eventually does grab that break back.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 2-4 – BREAK! This third round game restarts after the rain of yesterday at a set apiece and on serve. After an absolute marathon of an opening game Pascek does finally get the break. This could be over very quickly.

-

SCHIAVONE - BREAK - 6-3 4-6 2-3 - Paszek throws away a game point with a poorly attempted drop shot. She lives to regret it as Schiavone takes the next two points and breaks back. It's back on serve in the deciding set.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 1-3 - Schiavone finally gets on the board in this final set as she forces Paszek to miss with a backhand.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 0-3 Paszek grinds out the point with a fantastic drop shot which Schiavone must have never thought she'd produce after the one she'd just played herself. Another game that went to deuce though will be physically draining both players.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 0-2 - BREAK The Slovakian takes control of the final set early on as Schiavone continues to have no rhythm at all. She's still producing good shots, but it's one or two a game which is not enough. Paszek looks confident and now serves to go three ahead.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 4-6 0-1 Paszek not having any trouble on her own serve currently as Schiavone continues to be manoevered around at teh will of the Slovakian

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3, 4-6 - SET Schiavone had to produce one of the shots of the match just to stay in the game with an impossible looking sliced backhand, but it wasn't enough as she was consistantly pushed back by Pascek until she crashed the final point of the set into the net.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3, 4-5 Paszek dominated the game on her own serve really pushing Schivione all round the court and not trying to drag out any rallies. Every point seemed only a matter of time until she produced the shot that was one step too far for the Italian.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3, 4-4 - BREAK Paszek breaks straight back and shows that she can create real power even in awkward situations, twice producing perfectly angled backhands across Schivione on the stretch on the bassline.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3, 4-3 - BREAK A crucial, potentially game-turning break of serve sees Schivione taking her anger out on the ball with some powerful, whipped forehands cross court proving too much for Paszek.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3, 3-3 An increasingly frustrated Schivione closes out another very tight game eventually by stepping inside a wide return from Paszek and dispatching it right into the corner. She's talking to herself, the umpire and anyone who will listen inbetween points.

SCHIAVONE 6-3, 2-3 A clearly frustrated Schivione is overplaying far too many shots to the bassline, completely losing her range. Paszek's serve has been good, but not good enough to warrant this many mistakes from the former French Open champion.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3, 2-2 The Italian takes a while to close it out, but finally manages it. So many of her first services are wide it means she loses the advantage worryingly regularly, but eventually her class in the rallies shone through.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3, 1-2 Paszek dominates the game on her own serve thanks to the confidence built from the break, producing powerful wide serves that Schivione could do little about on the stretch.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 1-1 - BREAK Paszek shows great dertimination to break straight back and negate the Italian's advantage.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3,1-0 - BREAK Trademark tanacity from Schiavone saw her make shots that many others wouldn't have, the last of the game especially which she not only made on the stretch but also played an inch-perfect backhand across the face of Paszek.

-

SCHIAVONE 6-3 - SET The final game of the set was over in no time as she seems to have found her range with her serve as well as her forehand. It was a slow start, but she takes all the momentum into the second set.

-

SCHIAVONE 5-3 - BREAK Schiavone coming into her own, finally and she's finding the corners a lot more regularly making her favourite for the set now.

-

SCHIAVONE 4-3 She is still struggling with her first serve, landing well under half of them, but she is starting to find some accuracy with her forehand and that's what saw her through that game.

-

SCHIAVONE 3-3 After an epic game it is Paszekwho has the quality to see it out with too contrasting backhands. The first a perfectly weighted drop shot, the second a cross court bullet that left Schiavone no chance.

-

SCHIAVONE 3-2 - BREAK An absolute shocker from the Italian who is broken back to love including a double-fault to lose the game. Paszek did produce a stunning forehand return of serve at 30-0 as she stepped inside but Schiavone showed her frustration as the game concluded by kicking the ball into the crowd.

-

SCHIAVONE 3-1 - BREAK A lucky clip of the net gave Schiavone the first point and she capitalised thereafter, winning the alst with a delicate drop shot proving she's finding her touch. Another double-fault from Paszek helped out as well.

-

SCHIAVONE 2-1 Very few points being won, just countless unforced errors from both players. Schiavone finally bucked the trend at deuce with a perfectly placed sliced backhand volley that kicked up some chalk dust and the game was closed out with a return that was far too deep by Paszek. The Italian hardly landing any first serves in.

-

SCHIAVONE 1-1 - BREAK Paszek manages to recover from 40-down only to offer up two double-faults to hand the game back to Schiavone. A very low quality start to the match

-

SCHIAVONE 0-1 BREAK A very disappointing opening service game from the Italian as a double fault set her on her way to losing it, and a very sloppy backhand with Paszek stranded ended the game for Schiavone
