WILLIAMS 3-6 6-6(6-6) - There have been some fantastic points in this breaker so far. Bartoli has another match point, her fourth of the match, but Serena makes a massive ace down the middle to save it.
WILLIAMS 3-6 6-6(3-3) - It's level and still on serve in the breaker. Neither player has dropped a point on their serve yet. It's tense!
WILLIAMS - BREAK -3-6 6-6 - Serena plays a fantastic point at 0-0, finally winning it when Bartoli goes wide. The American then dismally hits the net on a routine forehand during the next point. Two big serves then set up two match points for the French player. She wastes the first one, going wide after attempting to hit an outright winner. The second one goes by in a flash too as her second serve is punished. Serena breaks back when Bartoli's second serve is too weak and Williams hits a winner.
WILLIAMS - BREAK - 3-6 5-6 - Could that be it for the reigning Champ? Bartoli keeps up with the big serving, big hitting American and crafts a break point when Serena goes long under pressure. An entertaining rallly on break point is ended when Williams misses with a very difficult backhand smash.
WILLIAMS 3-6 5-5 - Sensational from the French player. Serena is given the run-around but takes all of the pace of the ball with a sliced backhand. It gives her enough time to get back in court but Bartoli's forehand is too accurate and too powerful and it flies past Williams. A sliced ace out wide on game point ensures the hold for the ninth seed.
WILLIAMS 3-6 4-4 - Very sloppy from the reigning Champ. She gifts Bartoli the game with four unforced errors. The French player holds to love for the second time of the match.
WILLIAMS 3-6 4-3 - Bartoli goes to 15-30 on the Serena serve after stopping mid-point to challenge the American's forehand. It's long. The 7th seed allows the French player no further though, as she powers her way to a 4-3 lead.
WILLIAMS 3-6 3-3 - Too good. As it has been for most of this match. Bartoli holds to love with a quite excellent range of ground strokes. The Italian produces a smart one-two punch on game point to level it up in the second set.
WILLIAMS 3-6 3-2 - She's hanging on in there. But do we expect anything different? Serena struggles on her service game and narrowly scrapes through with a hold. Bartoli had a sniff of a break at 15-30 but, just like Bartoli on her last game, Serena battles back and holds with a big cross-court forehand.
WILLIAMS 2-2 - Serena goes 30-0 up on the Bartoli serve but falls to pieces on the following four points. The American has an easy put-away on game point after a very poor volley but misses by a mile. Bartoli holds and keeps the pressure on the reigning Champion.
WILLIAMS 3-6 2-1 - WALLOP! Serena hammers three huge first serves towards her opponent who fails to return any of them. The American then produces quite a shocking first serve that catches the bottom of the net. The second serve is good enough though, and has Bartoli on the back foot from the off. Serena takes advantage and holds after Bartoli goes long with a backhand.
WILLIAMS - 3-6 1-1 - Serena battles hard on the Bartoli serve but after getting to 15-30 Bartoli produces three big points and holds courtesy of a Williams unforced error.
WILLIAMS 3-6 1-0 - Seventh seed Williams starts the second set very positively with a very solid service game. The double-handed forehand of Bartoli was forced long a number of times during the game which helped the American to hold.
WILLIAMS - SET - 3-6 - Ninth seed Marion Bartoli powers her way to the first set against four-time Champion Serena Williams. The French player was simply too good for the American in the opening set but there is a reason why Williams is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. Can she come back from a set down to progress to the quarter-finals?
