The world No.2, with returning coach Ivan Lendl watching from his box, wrapped up the first two sets in under an hour as he secured a 6-2 6-3 6-4 victory.
He will face Lu Yen-hsun in the second round.

"I served pretty well. Offensively I thought I did some good stuff. Maybe defensively I could have done a little bit better.
"But the first match is always tricky. Obviously Liam... we've never played each before although we've practised a lot and it's not that easy playing someone you know so well, but I did okay.
"When we started the match we're both trying to win but it doesn't make it any easier. You just want to go out and try to play a good match."
Broady did not disgrace himself and created a couple of break opportunities in the final set, but it was ultimately a task beyond the 22-year-old.

Murray is unbeaten since Lendl’s return earlier in June, winning a record fifth Queen’s Club title in their first tournament back together as he bids to end Novak Djokovic’s stranglehold on the Grand Slams.
If the men’s draw goes to seeding, Murray would face Stan Wawrinka in the semi-finals before another final showdown with Djokovic at SW19.
