Wimbledon 2017: Top seed Angelique Kerber battles back to beat Shelby Rogers
Updated 08/07/2017 at 15:22 GMT
World number one Angelique Kerber produced a gutsy performance to come from a set and a break down to beat Shelby Rogers of the USA 4-6 7-6(2) 6-4.
The German, who is the top seed at SW19, trailed 3-1 in the second set and was facing probable defeat when she launched a ferocious comeback.
Kerber defied her early struggles to take the second set 7-2 on a tie-break and followed that with a crucial break in the deciding set to clinch victory.
The 29-year-old will next take on Spain's Garbine Muguruza in a hotly-anticipated fourth-round clash.
Despite her unconvincing form, Kerber remains one of the favourites for the title after coming through such a tricky test.
