Ningbo layout surprises WTCC racer Michelisz
Norbert Michelisz has admitted the layout of FIA WTCC Race of China’s new home has taken him by surprise.
The Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team star, pictured right, joined his WTCC rivals for a final track walk this morning before the Hungarian headed to Ningbo city centre for the pre-event press conference.
“We had the chance to drive this circuit on the simulator,” Michelisz explained. “It’s a help but doing the track walk we realise there’s a lot more elevation change than we expected. With a new circuit you have to be very clever, a lot of things can happen and mistakes are even more possible. It’s all about doing clever races and scoring the maximum points. I’m sure for the spectator everyone will see exciting races with two or three places where we will see a lot of overtaking during the races.”
Michelisz heads into the WTCC Race of China weekend at the all-new Ningbo International Speedpark third in the points and firmly in title contention.
