Thed Björk bounced back from a tough Slovakia weekend by going quickest in Free Practice 2 at WTCR Race of Netherlands this afternoon.

Driving a Cyan Racing Lynk & Co 03 TCR, Björk struggled for pace at the Slovakia Ring last weekend, but his speed in Free Practice 2 signalled a return to form for the Swede, who won Race 3 at WTCR AFRIQUIA Race of Morocco last month.

“It feels very good actually,” said Björk, after he posted a 1m45.161s best during the 30minute session at Zandvoort. “The car did not do what I wanted it to do in Slovakia but now it’s a different story. We are on the right way again.

“I get more grip and the car is not sliding everywhere. It feels much better and that’s the general feeling. Then I can start to attack a bit more and the lap time comes.

“In Slovakia we were two or three seconds off in practice, but now we are there. We don’t know who put the new tyres on and so on but we are in a different area and hopefully we can play now for the front step. I feel much better and much more relaxed going in to qualifying.”

Yann Ehrlacher, who won at WTCR Race of Netherlands last season and holds the WTCR / OSCARO race lap record on the 4.307-kilometre track, was second quickest for Cyan Performance Lynk & Co with Norbert Michelisz third in his BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse entry.

Johan Kristoffersson was fourth fastest for SLR Volkswagen, one place ahead of team-mate Benjamin Leuchter. Comtoyou DHL Team CUPRA Racing twins Aurelién Panis and Dutch hero Tom Coronel were sixth and seventh respectively with Daniel Haglöf eighth for PWR Racing.

Esteban Guerrieri (ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport) and Mikel Azcona rounded out the top 10 followed closely by Jean-Karl Vernay, Niels Langeveld, title leader Néstor Girolami, Andy Priaulx and Nicky Catsburg.

The next scheduled track action is First Qualifying from 08h05 local time on Saturday.
