WTCR racer Huff at the double
Rob Huff is taking on a team management role in 2019 alongside his bid to win the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO.
The Briton has linked up with Teamwork Motorsport to launch Teamwork Huff Motorsport for a campaign in his national TCR series.
It’s an extension of his role with the Hong Kong-based Teamwork operation, which began in 2013 and has included stints as a race and test driver and consultant.
“I've been working with the Teamwork guys for years, and now with Teamwork Huff Motorsport, it's great to be trying my hand at something else,” said the Volkswagen-powered WTCR / OSCARO racer. “I've spent a lot of time in China with the guys, guiding their progress, and now it'll be something different to work with them in the UK, and not only work with them on how to get the best out of the car, but do that at some of the circuits where I grew up racing. It'll be a great experience to have my name on a race team.”
Huff drove one of the team's Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs at the TCR Malaysia round in Sepang in January as a one-off to gather data for this season’s WTCR / OSCARO super-finale from 13-15 December.
The 2012 FIA World Touring Car champion will begin his WTCR / OSCARO title challenge at WTCR Race of Morocco from 5-7 April. He will carry out his role as advisor and driver coach role with Teamwork Huff Motorsport where clashes permit.
