NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 7-5 1-1 FRITZ
Nadal booms a crisp forehand down the line and right into the corner to move 30-15. It’s a stabilising point as he dictates the rallies with a mix of slice and loopy crosscourt forehands from there to secure an impressive hold.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 7-5 0-1 FRITZ
Nadal went off court in-between sets but it’s Fritz who looks more assured at the start of the decider as he eases through a love hold to earn that scoreboard advantage.
Surely Fritz’s internal discussion with himself must have been to find the first serve and then the chances to break will come. The crowd will be against him but the No.11 seed is surely still the favourite to triumph here. Clarity of mind will the key to him prevailing.

SET! - NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 7-5 FRITZ
Never write this guy off! Nadal is getting some serious joy looping the forehand to the tired Fritz backhand. A wide ace clocks up three set points and the Spaniard sizzles a forehand to the baseline to serve out the set to love and take us into a decider.

BREAK! – NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 6-5 FRITZ
Survival mode engaged! Somehow Nadal breaks again. The Spaniard is the ultimate fighter. It’s still highly unlikely he’ll prevail here today but he now has a chance to force a decider. He’s got to hold though and that has not been easy all day….
NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 5-5 FRITZ
As expected, Fritz comes out all guns blazing and corks a bulldozer of a forehand winner up the line. Nadal responds in typically bullish style and the forehand fires perfectly to drive him into a game-winning position. A rare ace down the T concludes the game and the two-time champion survives a little bit longer.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 4-5 FRITZ
Nadal presses to deuce with an incredible forehand up the line. The Spaniard unloads another to earn a break point but Taylor responds with a magnificent crosscourt winner off the same flank to survive and move within a game of a famous victory.
This is a MASSIVE opportunity for the American now, particularly how Nadal has struggled on serve today.

BREAK! – NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 4-4 FRITZ
The inevitable break back arrives. Nadal is working overtime to stay in rallies but he misfires in quick succession off both flanks to hand over the game without his usual trademark fight.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 4-3 FRITZ
Nadal goes for broke on a ferocious forehand up the line but slaps it into the tape. Instead of posing a threat at 30-30, Fritz eases clear and remains firmly in contention to break back.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 4-2 FRITZ
Once again Nadal does enough despite rolling in a lot of his serves. Fritz is struggling to gauge the return to slower speeds and is missing his spots too often.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 3-2 FRITZ
No resistance there. Fritz blitzes through a love hold. He’ll still be confident of winning this set given the lack of pace Nadal is injecting into his serve.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 3-1 FRITZ
It’s drop shot city! Nadal bamboozles Fritz time and time again and even manages to save break point with one. The American tries desperately to keep the game alive from deuce but eventually pushes long on the run and Rafa has somehow consolidated the break.

GAME, SET AND MATCH! - KYRGIOS 6-4 6-3 7-6 GARIN
Nick Kyrgios secures the tie-break by a 7-5 scoreline and claims a straight sets victory in two hours and 11 minutes. There was some drama at 6-5 as a bad call required the point to be replayed. The Aussie found his power to force a backhand wide from Garin and it means the Canberra-native is into his first Grand Slam semi final in singles.

BREAK! – NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 2-1 FRITZ
Nadal keeps fighting! An improvised crosscourt backhand and an ultra deep return help him to three more break points. Fritz pushes his luck saving two, but it runs out on the third as some cunning, low slices lure an error just long.

BREAK! – NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 1-1 FRITZ
So close for Nadal. Fritz helps him to a 40-15 lead with a couple of awful returns off slow second serves. The Spaniard can’t get it done though and a double fault puts him under pressure at deuce. Fritz choose the opportune moment to unleash a bazooka of a backhand up the line and lures a slice error to break right back.
KYRGIOS 6-4 6-3 6-6 GARIN
Nick maintains his focus and forces the tie-break. Will Garin have lift off or can Kyrgios get the job done?

BREAK! – NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 1-0 FRITZ
Wow! Nadal takes advantage of some sloppy work from Fritz to make deuce with a sublime drop shot. The Spaniard turns the screw and when the American offers up a tame volley at the net, the No.2 seed lashes a backhand pass to open Set 4 with a break.
