KYRGIOS 6-4 6-3 4-5 GARIN
Cristian keeps scrapping. He’s taken care of his own service games in this third set and caused Kyrgios more problems. It hasn’t quite happened for him yet but the scoreboard pressure could yet tell in his favour.

SET! – NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-6 FRITZ
Fritz ups the ante on the return and Nadal can’t handle the angles required to reach some excellent groundstrokes. The American claims two set points and Nadal converts for him with a crosscourt forehand way beyond the tramlines.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-5 FRITZ
Fritz crunches a brutal crosscourt forehand to take the game to 15 and move within a game of taking the lead once more.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 3-4 FRITZ
Nadal has been in survival mode for quite some time now. He’s playing at about 60 per cent but won’t throw in the towel. A controlled, angled volley is the pick of his points as he holds to 15.
KYRGIOS 6-4 6-3 3-3 GARIN
There are break chances galore for Garin but he can’t convert any of them. We remain on serve as Kyrgios stays composed.
The Chilean continues to fight and believe despite the deficit.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 2-4 FRITZ
Nadal attempts to threaten with another lovely crosscourt forehand but Fritz reels off four points in a row from there to stay on course to take this third set.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 2-3 FRITZ
Nadal has hit some pearls off that forehand since taking his medical time-out. He really is going for those shots with more freedom. He unleashes a couple more winners off that wing to stay in touch with a game to 15.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 1-3 FRITZ
Fritz consolidates with a game to 30 despite failing to make many first serves. Will Nadal play to the conclusion of the match or will he call it quits if he loses this set?
NOW FRITZ HAS CALLED THE TRAINER
It's like a throwback to the Indian Wells final. Fritz was hampered by an ankle injury while Nadal was playing with a fractured rib on that occasion.
Here, Fritz has strapping on his left leg and Nadal continues to labour with his stomach problem.

BREAK! – NADAL 3-6 7-5 1-2 FRITZ
Taylor finally resolves to stay in the rallies and make Nadal work more. It pays dividends as he steers a fierce backhand up the line to press at 15-30. Nadal lures an error for 30-30 but then slams a forehand off court. Fritz doesn’t have to do anything from there as the Spaniard double faults to hand the American the initiative.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 1-1 FRITZ
Fritz unloads a blur of gigantic serves and easily holds to love.
KYRGIOS 6-4 6-3 1-2 GARIN
It’s still on serve early in Set 3. Garin is faced with the same scenario as in the previous round against De Minaur. Can he hit back from two sets down and upset another Aussie? It’s hard to see that happening this time around.
NADAL 3-6 7-5 1-0 FRITZ
Nadal is playing better than when he was moving well! The nerves have gone and he is hitting that forehand freely. It’s just the injury on his mind now. He scorches another blockbuster winner off the forehand to roar through a hold to 15.

SET! - NADAL 3-6 7-5 FRITZ
How on earth has Rafael Nadal won that set? He is clearly hampered and not moving well. He piles on the pressure by spinning his returns in and Fritz blows two forehands long from 30-15 up to hand over set point. The Spaniard senses the moment and a drop shot brings his opponent in, allowing him to cut the volley away and claim the set with a break at the death.
